About The Position

Clinch Valley Health, part of Lifepoint Health, is hiring a PRN Phlebotomist to support patient care and laboratory services. The role performs blood collection and laboratory testing, documents results, and helps ensure accurate orders, patient records, and specimen handling. The Phlebotomist also supports clinical team members and laboratory registration as needed, maintains laboratory supplies and equipment, and provides professional, courteous assistance to patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Certificate in phlebotomy from an accredited college or university.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood specimens per laboratory orders by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Process medical laboratory tests and document results for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
• Follow CLIA and COLA requirements and regulations.
• Serve as a backup for clinical team members and laboratory registration as needed.
• Communicate with and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
• Review the laboratory schedule, verify and complete orders, identify patients, and confirm the correct patient record.
• Monitor and resolve orders in the electronic medical record.
• Complete laboratory forms documenting tests performed and diagnoses correlating to the tests.
• Complete laboratory requisition forms and produce appropriate labels for forms and specimen tubes.
• Enter patient demographics, tests performed, and corresponding diagnoses in the EMR.
• Order and maintain adequate laboratory supplies.
• Clean and maintain the laboratory and its equipment.
• Perform laboratory registrations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
