Under the supervision of the Manager Laboratory Outreach Services or guidance of the Lead Phlebotomist, this role performs responsibilities associated with obtaining blood and various other patient specimens in accordance with department procedures. The Phlebotomist obtains samples ordered by physicians for routine and specialized tests on assigned units, including samples from pediatric and adult patients on outpatient units. This role also involves transporting specimens and completing basic records, while fostering patient and family-centered care and nursing services in alignment with the Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital’s mission, vision, and values, considering all developmental stages and cultural patterns.
