About The Position

Indiana University Health is hiring a Phlebotomist Lab Assistant I at Ball Memorial. The laboratories provide comprehensive laboratory services and operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, performing more than 19 million tests annually. Testing services are also provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

The role provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic specimen processing, and related clerical tasks. The incumbent may also be responsible for patient and specimen registration and specimen delivery, and may serve on committees or projects that contribute to the department’s purpose and essential functions.

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Telephone skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.
• A valid Indiana operator’s license and a good driving history for the last three years may be required.
• An understanding of Indiana traffic laws may be required.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in a laboratory, or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science.

Responsibilities
