About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking a Phlebotomist Lab Assistant I for its Ball Memorial location on the day shift. The laboratories provide comprehensive services and perform more than 19 million tests annually, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Testing services are also provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

The position provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic specimen processing, and related clerical tasks. The incumbent may also be responsible for patient and specimen registration and specimen delivery. The role may include service on appropriate committees or projects that contribute to the department’s purpose and essential functions.

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Telephone skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.
• May require a valid Indiana operator’s license and a good driving history for the last three years.
• May require an understanding of Indiana traffic laws.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in a laboratory, or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science.
