About The Position

This role requires a skilled Phlebotomist to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment, often with minimal on-site supervision. The ideal candidate will possess excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections, and demonstrate flexibility to meet staffing needs, which may include weekends, holidays, on-call duties, and overtime. A commitment to all company policies and procedures, including dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Guiding Principles, is essential. The position demands good judgment and the ability to make decisions based on established procedures. Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record are necessary, as travel to multiple locations and flexible hours are required with minimal notice. The role involves handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting and requires superior customer focus, open communication, adaptability to change, and business knowledge.

  • Three years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent - REQUIRED.
  • Phlebotomy certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
  • Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrate Leadership Behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy to patient information.
  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Perform with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic info / initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees and the public in general.
