About The Position

This role requires the ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment with minimal on-site supervision. The ideal candidate will possess excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections, and must be flexible and available to meet staffing needs, which may include weekends, holidays, on-call duties, and overtime. A commitment to all company Policies & Procedures, including dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Guiding Principles, is essential. The position requires the ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment. Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record are necessary, as travel and flexible hours are required to work multiple locations with minimal notice. The role involves handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting and demonstrating superior customer focus, open communication, adaptability to change, and business knowledge. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic training is preferred. Phlebotomy certification is preferred but required in California, Nevada, and Washington. Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, is required. A minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment and customer service experience in a retail or service environment are preferred. Keyboard/data entry experience is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
  • Maintain direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures.
  • Draw blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrate Leadership Behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic info and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees and the public.
