About The Position

The Philanthropy Program Manager serves as the Liaison to the Women's Auxiliary, playing a crucial role in strategizing and implementing initiatives that drive social impact through effective fundraising and relationship management. This position supervises, organizes, coordinates, directs, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Women’s Auxiliary for Area Command Angel Tree programs, ensuring efficient and effective task accomplishment. The role involves cross-training and supporting all office assignments, focusing on targeted deadlines and quality standards. It also includes supervising, organizing, and coordinating Women’s Auxiliary volunteer events/projects for a large Auxiliary, advising and directing volunteers in setting up events/projects, and serving as a liaison to the Women’s Auxiliary by supplying necessary research, reports, and materials.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field required.
  • Four years progressively responsible experience demonstrating a record of accomplishment in supervising volunteers as well as organizing, coordinating and managing of events/projects, preferable in a non-profit setting.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures and of effective and efficient recordkeeping practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting or bookkeeping practices and procedures including ability to prepare spreadsheets.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate programs, meetings, and special events.
  • Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate a variety of special event strategies.
  • Ability to develop and administer a special events budget.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, motivate, monitor, and evaluate employees and volunteers.
  • Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Auxiliary volunteers, Salvation Army officers, employees, members of advisory organizations, and the community.

  • Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Program Development: Design and implement philanthropic programs that align with the organization's mission and goals, including identifying community needs and developing strategies to address them.
  • Fundraising: Collaborate with the Development Team to develop and execute fundraising strategies to secure donations and grants, involving relationship building with potential and existing donors, and managing fundraising campaigns.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, community partners, and other stakeholders to promote the organization’s mission and enhance its visibility.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of philanthropic programs through data collection and analysis, ensuring objectives are met and reporting outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor program staff, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional development and innovation.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Plan, direct, and supervise the work of assigned staff and/or volunteers; train and instruct employees in proper methods and procedures; monitor work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance; conduct performance evaluations and provide hiring/firing recommendations.
  • Volunteer Management: Supervise and assist volunteers in various Women’s Auxiliary and Angel Tree program activities; lead recruitment, screening, training, and onboarding of volunteers; create and maintain volunteer training materials and procedural documentation.
  • Program Operations Oversight: Oversee program operations, timelines, and resources to ensure successful execution of events, projects, and ongoing initiatives; ensure program activities comply with organizational policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Liaison Responsibilities: Serve as liaison to the Women’s Auxiliary, supplying research, reports, and materials; coordinate work with committees and sub-committees; maintain open communication with Area Command Leadership; serve as a liaison to other departments.
  • Communication Management: Receive and screen communications to the Women’s Auxiliary, prioritizing and facilitating communication.
  • Development Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the Development Team to support fundraising strategies connected to philanthropic programs, including events, campaigns, and donor engagement opportunities.
  • Donor Stewardship: Assist in donor stewardship by providing program information, impact data, and reports that support grant proposals, donor communications, and fundraising efforts.
  • Event Coordination and Implementation: Determine and set dates for events/projects; coordinate details including location, volunteer needs, and timing; coordinate, recruit, and supervise volunteers and/or employees involved in events/projects.
  • Volunteer Notification: Notify Auxiliary volunteers of all events/projects through mailings, newsletters, reminders, and phone calls; maintain records of correspondence and replies.
  • Event Planning and Execution: Plan, coordinate, and implement various events and projects related to the Women’s Auxiliary; supervise volunteers and participate in facilitation to ensure successful completion.
  • Administrative Coordination: Coordinate administrative processes for events, meetings, seminars, and special projects, including registrations, payments, travel, and logistics.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, member lists, financial documentation, and confidential information.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Prepare and present program updates, evaluations, and outcomes; monitor program performance and outcomes using data collection, tracking, and analysis; compile and analyze reports, statistics, surveys, and program data.
  • Office Coordination: Compose, prepare, and type a wide variety of paperwork, including correspondence, proposals, reports, newsletters, statistics, budgets, and minutes.
  • Administrative Processing: Coordinate and process administrative responsibilities associated with events/projects, including preparing forms, agreements, invitations, registrations, schedules, and travel arrangements.
  • Information Provision: Respond to questions, research, and provide specific and general information based on knowledge of department operations; maintain confidentiality.
