About The Position

The Philanthropy Manager will showcase a daily priority on servant leadership and diversity, equity and inclusion. They are a go-getter and goal-oriented individual. In partnership with Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa’s (GSGI’s) Philanthropy team, this role leads individual giving revenue through strategic portfolio management. The Philanthropy Manager is responsible for the full donor lifecycle, conducting meaningful outreach and visits, developing tailored proposals aligned with council priorities, and ensuring thoughtful follow-through. A motivated relationship-builder, the Philanthropy Manager partners with leadership, board members, and volunteers to advance donor engagement, represent the council, and uphold ethical fundraising while fostering a culture of philanthropy.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years fundraising, or related professional and/or academic experience preferred
  • Must be creative with excellent people, writing , and communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work as a leader and as a member of a team
  • Must possess skills necessary to effectively organize, manage, and achieve multiple goals and priorities
  • Sales-minded and goal oriented
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and translate information into actionable strategies
  • Strong attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of fundraising software and technologies, including social media platforms
  • Ability to make decisions and drive a development campaign
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office products

  • Must maintain annual or lifetime membership in Girl Scouts at all times
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and liability insurance
  • Every three years, successful completion of a criminal background check and driving check
  • Flexibility is key. We’ll need you to work weekends and evenings as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow individual giving revenue through strategic management of a portfolio of donors and prospects, with a focus on those with the capacity to give annually in the $1,000–$5,000 range, including qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Conduct meaningful donor outreach and visits; develop tailored proposals and funding requests aligned with council priorities.
  • Analyze portfolio performance and giving trends; track revenue and related expenses to support forecasting, goal attainment, and responsible budget management.
  • Maintain accurate donor records in the CRM to support effective moves management and relationship tracking.
  • Support the planning and execution of individual-focused fundraising initiatives, including year-end, camp, seasonal, and staff campaigns
  • Manage a small portfolio of event sponsorships as assigned.
  • Collaborate with marketing and internal teams to articulate funding priorities, develop donor communications, and report on impact.
  • Partner with senior leadership, board members, and volunteers to leverage relationships and advance donor engagement.
  • Represent the council in the community including occasional public speaking opportunities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of planned giving vehicles, or a willingness to develop expertise in legacy giving.
  • Uphold ethical fundraising standards, honor donor intent, and contribute to a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
  • Support broader council initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
