About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician assists in expeditiously filling patient prescriptions within federal, state, and local guidelines. The position works in a professional office environment, with frequent interruptions and a usually moderate noise level. It routinely uses standard office equipment, including laptop computers and smartphones. Travel is primarily local during the business day, though some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. This is a light physical activity job. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Employees are expected to follow CHS safety and health policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least three years of pharmacy experience.
• Communication skills, spoken and written.
• Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Professionalism with patients, colleagues, and others.
• Excellent customer service.
• Computer skills.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Mathematical skills.
• Cultural competence and sensitivity to the mission of CHS.
• Follow CHS safety and health policies.
• Meet employment conditions that include WV Cares clearance, drug screening, and a driver's license.
• Complete a background security investigation and receive favorable adjudication, if not previously completed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in filling prescriptions.
• Assist patients with the purchase of prescriptions.
• Keep shelves and storage areas clean and neat.
• Assist in processing drug orders and stocking shelves.
• Answer telephone calls and communicate with patients regarding telephone orders.
• Dispense medications according to all federal, state, and local laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
