About The Position

This advanced technician role encompasses specialized areas such as Infusion/Oncology, Pediatrics/Neonates, Controlled Substances, Automated Medication Systems, Medication History, Investigational Drug Services, and others. Technicians perform advanced responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, the safe preparation and handling of sterile, non-sterile, and hazardous medications; system optimization and enhancement; adherence to regulatory standards; and direct patient interactions related to their area of practice. They demonstrate strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, collaboration, and effective communication while supporting training and operational excellence across all specialty areas. Cross-training may be required across specialty areas as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of various pharmacy automation systems and electronic medical record.
  • Safe and accurate preparation of non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous medications according to USP 795, 797 and 800 guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for medication handling and delivery, including controlled dangerous substances and hazardous medications.
  • Follow proper medication safety practices (e.g., look alike sound alike, high alert, expirations and recalls, temperature and humidity documentation).
  • Maintain competency and ongoing training in specialized areas.
  • Assist in training of pharmacy personnel, when appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities
