About The Position

The registered and certified pharmacy technician II works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists to provide distributive pharmacy services and support to the pharmacy department. Additionally, provides a high level of assistance in distribution, dispensing, and compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications, and related supplies in compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements. This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5K, contingent upon the applicant's qualifications and subject to certain eligibility requirements. Please note, that candidates must possess prior inpatient work experience to qualify for the sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (ACPHT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Certified Pharmacy Technician Exam (EXCPT) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • One (1) year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Trains, leads and serves as a resource to other technicians to help manage daily operational workflow.
  • Able to perform all activities in the pharmacy technician scope of practice.
  • Competent and skilled to perform all duties of Technician I and Technician II.
  • Independently executes and completes pharmacy projects or reports under the direction of pharmacy leadership.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in one or more specialty areas as required to meet the demands of the department (e.g. neonates, oncology, purchasing, automation, auditing , reimbursement, total parenteral nutrition, inventory management).
  • Assists with development, organization, and implementation of process improvement, continuous quality and safety initiatives and outcomes.
  • Maintains and supports medication distribution systems and distribution channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, unit dose systems, code carts, trays and kits.
  • Prepares, fills, receives, delivers, stocks and restocks medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas.
  • Assists with customer service and patient needs, including answering telephones, managing work queues and completing medication histories.
  • Prepares non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous preparations.
  • Performs prescription data entry in pharmacy system when applicable.
  • Process medication charges/credits when applicable.
  • Responsible for orienting and training new pharmacy technicians or students.
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations.
