About The Position

Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Round Rock is a long-term acute care (LTAC) hospital specializing in the treatment of patients recovering from post-intensive care and medically complex conditions. Our hospital provides 3 different levels of care to include LTACH, inpatient rehab, and outpatient wound care. Our hospital provides both intensive care and telemetry-level services, offering advanced monitoring and support for patients requiring extended medical care. With a multidisciplinary team dedicated to personalized treatment plans, we focus on helping patients achieve significant recovery and transition to the next level of care. Our 12-bed acute rehabilitation unit is designed for patients who are ready to progress to intensive therapy for 15 hours a week. We also offer outpatient wound care, with 2 treatment rooms and a Hyperbaric oxygen suite with 2 individual chambers. Job Summary Provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the registered pharmacist. Essential Functions Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication. Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for bottles. Fills orders with correct medications. Prepares unit of use dosage when possible. Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer. Prepares intravenous (IV) packs. Generates required reports; pick i.v., production reports. Performs backup procedures correctly. Recycles product as appropriate. Changes prep and expiration date on recycled product. Dates times and initials all vials for reuse. Prioritizes work (i.e. stats made first). Delivers IVS to proper locations. Restocks shelves and rotates stock. Properly disposes of non-recyclable solutions. Maintains i.v. refrigerator temperature log. Receives and stores incoming supplies. Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records. Returns medications to stock and rotates stock. Fills requisitions from Nursing floors in a timely fashion. Can calculate appropriate medication doses based on patient’s age Adult and Geriatrics. Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods. Company Specific: Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean and wears appropriate identification while on duty. Completes annual health, safety, and education requirements. Mains professional growth and development. Mains confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served. Reports to work on time as scheduled; adheres to policies regarding notification of absence. Attends all mandatory in-services and staff meetings. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. Mains current licensure/certification for position, if applicable. Consistently demonstrates Guest Relation’s skills to patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and any other individuals with whom they may come in contact. Consistently follows departmental and hospital Health, Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials policies and procedures. HIPAA: Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws, follow hospital policy in provision of patient confidentiality. Able to identify patient confidentiality issues and reports to proper hospital personnel immediately. Requirements

PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy required, where mandated by state law. Upon Hire (Required)
The ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with clinical staff.
Self motivated, self directed with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Good math and science skills Good stress coping skills.
Must read, write and speak fluent English.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (Preferred)
1+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy setting (Preferred)
Combination of Education and Training in the basic understanding of the role of and use of a computer in the processing of prescription orders with minimum word processing skills (Preferred)
