About The Position
Children’s Wisconsin is a pediatric-focused health system providing a range of healthcare and family services. The Pharmacy Tech I supports inpatient pharmacy operations under the supervision of a pharmacist, helping ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery to pediatric patients. Duties include preparing and distributing medications, managing inventory, supporting pharmacy technology, and assisting patients, families, nurses, and healthcare providers. The schedule is 7-on/7-off: 8:30 PM to 6:00 AM for one week, followed by a full week off. Rotations begin Wednesday evening and end the following Tuesday morning.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or HSED.
- Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician Registration required before starting.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
- One or more years of pharmacy or healthcare experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, package, label, and deliver medications.
- Compound sterile products using aseptic technique and USP 797 standards.
- Process patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Manage medication inventory, including stocking, ordering, and monitoring expiration dates.
- Handle controlled substances and assist with discrepancy resolution.
- Support automated dispensing cabinets and other pharmacy technologies.
- Answer calls and assist patients, families, nurses, and healthcare providers.
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
