About The Position

The Pharmacy Program Team Lead is responsible for coordinating prescription workflow and related activities to meet daily deadlines, ensuring workload is shared equitably, and coaching and mentoring team members. This role actively contributes to the onboarding of new hires and cross-training of existing associates. The Team Lead collaborates with other pharmacy associates to achieve desired results, ensures the team monitors outgoing shipments for timely delivery, and consults regularly with the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacists, and other pharmacy program management. They resolve or escalate operational and customer issues with a solution-based approach, maintain comprehensive knowledge of assigned drugs/programs, and disseminate knowledge efficiently to their team. The Team Lead acts as a Subject Matter Expert for their program portfolio and works collaboratively with other Innomar business units and ABSG Patient Programs. Participation in and representation of pharmacy at interdepartmental meetings is also a key responsibility. Additionally, the role involves preparing/reviewing and processing manual claims and audits, liaising with the pharmacy Accountant for accounts receivable and related documentation, entering and correcting prescription data in the computer, and assisting the team in day-to-day activities. Screening calls, gathering information for the Pharmacist, overseeing inventory management, and ensuring timely completion of administrative tasks are also part of the duties. The Team Lead must understand pharmacy performance metrics, review financial documentation, and prepare/review Quality Assurance documentation, including CAPAs. Reporting Adverse Events in accordance with regulatory standards is also required. The role may involve other duties within the scope of practice as outlined in the Job Description and assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Professional Certificate of Registration with Provincial College of Pharmacy (strong preference)
  • Two (2) years related experience
  • Minimum two (2) years Specialty Pharmacy experience
  • Excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations
  • Strong proficiency in Kroll and adjudication practices
  • Excellent knowledge of Public, and private TP payers' policies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective conflict-resolution skills
  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity in their interactions
  • Creates a positive work environment and encourages team member to share ideas
  • Contribute to individual development of team members through effective coaching

Responsibilities

  • Ensure team monitors outgoing shipments to ensure delivery occurred within desired time frame
  • Consult regularly with Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacists and other pharmacy program management

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and documentation on, the drugs/programs assigned to their team
  • Maintain working knowledge of the drugs/programs assigned to other teams

  • Work collaboratively with other Innomar business units and ABSG Patient Programs (including Health Forward) in fulfilling pharmacy responsibilities in program development and execution
  • Participation in and representation of pharmacy at interdepartmental meetings
  • Prepare/review and process manual claims and audits in a timely manner
  • Liaise with the pharmacy Accountant to manage accounts receivable, assignment of benefits, and related documentation
  • Enter prescriptions into the computer; retrieve and/or correct data in computer
  • Assist team in completion of day-to-day activities to meet Program deadlines
  • Screen calls and gather relevant information for Pharmacist
  • Oversee inventory management practices
  • Ensure timely completion of routine administrative tasks
  • Understand pharmacy performance metrics
  • Review and analyze reports, invoices or other financial documentation
  • Prepare, review and/or maintain Quality Assurance documentation, including CAPAs
  • Report Adverse Events in accordance with provincial regulatory standards and, where applicable, internal and contractual obligations
  • Fulfill any other duties within their scope of practice as outlined in the Job Description relevant to that designation
  • The Pharmacy Program Team Lead will also be assigned other duties and tasks as required from time to time
