About The Position

This role is accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. The position serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician responsible for operating pharmacy systems, processing prescriptions, and supervising pharmacy technicians and cashiers under the guidance of a pharmacist. Key responsibilities include personnel selection, scheduling, development, training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians, including disciplinary actions and termination decisions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities.
  • Ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience.
  • Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Oversee the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel.
  • Lead training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians.
  • Make decisions regarding performance management, including discipline and termination.
  • Engage customers and patients, offering assistance and resolving complaints.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Assist pharmacist in patient care activities, including registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, and verification.
  • Complete patient and physician calls under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Assist with healthcare service offerings, including administering vaccines and health screenings, under pharmacist supervision.
  • Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy, ensuring timely completion.
  • Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies.
  • Manage core pharmacy workflow and drive excellence in pharmacy operations.
  • Coordinate and organize the pharmacy's daily schedule of activities.
  • Recommend allocation of pharmacy hours.
  • Ensure the pharmacy is clean, neat, orderly, and adequately stocked.
  • Ensure compliance and execution of all business administrative activities and pharmacy inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure.
  • Manage annual inventory preparation.
  • Complete non-clinical patient calls.
  • Drive new technology/process rollouts and champion change.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy department equipment.
  • Maintain recordkeeping and ensure security safeguards are in place in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policy during prescription-dispensing activities.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of Company asset protection techniques.
  • Support Pharmacy Manager with diversion monitoring and report security concerns.
  • Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and adhere to related policies.
  • Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and resolve customer issues.
  • Follow up with insurance companies and medical providers, and participate in 3rd party audits.
  • Analyze and seek to improve pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service.
  • Manage Community Outreach Portal and coordinate off-site immunization clinics and community events.
  • Build and sustain relationships with retail partnerships.
  • Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline and termination recommendations.
  • Hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness.
  • Maintain and improve pharmacy performance through team member engagement and action planning.
  • Oversee technician hiring, on-boarding, training, and scheduling.
  • Monitor timely training completion for pharmacy technicians.
  • Identify and address gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge among team members.
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager in monitoring active and compliant pharmacy and team member licensures, registrations, and certifications.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training.
  • Maintain PTCB certification.
  • Maintain and enhance current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
  • Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training.
  • Seek professional development by monitoring performance, soliciting feedback, and leveraging Healthcare Supervisor.
  • Communicate with the pharmacy team, relaying messages from the support center.
  • Participate in key store/pharmacy meetings.
