About The Position

The Pharmacy Manager provides direction and coordination of all activities of an assigned area in the Department of Pharmacy. This role performs all pharmaceutical care and drug distribution duties required of Clinical Staff Pharmacist and Senior Clinical Staff Pharmacist. The manager supervises and manages the operation of the assigned pharmacy areas, including inventory control, controlled substances record keeping, and maintenance of drug information reference materials. They also supervise, manage, orient, train, and evaluate all assigned professional and supportive personnel. The manager addresses quality improvement opportunities while participating in various hospital patient care committees, develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, and ensures completion of monthly unit/clinic audits. Additionally, they prepare personnel work schedules and ensure adequate staffing when absences occur, interview and hire job applicants for vacant positions, develop proposals for new pharmaceutical care services, prepare work measurement reports, and make budget recommendations to the Director. The manager also identifies appropriate internal controls for the department and provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance. Marginal job functions include performing related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current license to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas
  • Five (5) years of related experience required

Nice To Haves

  • ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification
  • PGY1 and PGY2 HSPAL Residency
  • PGY1 and 2 years of inpatient hospital experience
  • 5 years of experience as an Inpatient Pharmacist
