About The Position

The Pharmacy Clerk supports the Tops mission of providing friendly neighborhood service that saves customers time and money. The role provides attentive, courteous customer service when receiving written prescriptions or assisting customers with questions. It also involves processing prescriptions and payments, ordering and checking supplier orders, stocking pharmacy shelves, maintaining records and supplies, and performing general housekeeping. The pharmacist must be present whenever the clerk is in the pharmacy and must perform the final check on every prescription before it is placed in a bag.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age; must be at least 18 to perform certain functions or tasks.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
Basic computer skills.
Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Follow federal, state, and local regulations and company policies concerning pharmacy operations, safety, and sanitation.
Retrieve medications from shelves, count or pour medications, label containers, and price prescriptions; ensure the pharmacist performs the final check on every prescription before bagging.
Process, prepare, and package prescriptions according to company policy.
Enter customer data into the computer, maintain accurate records, and complete required pharmacy paperwork.
Follow instructions from the pharmacist on duty and pharmacy manager; work in the pharmacy only when a pharmacist is present.
Maintain the security of controlled substances.
Maintain adequate supplies, stock pharmacy shelves, place orders, and check in supplier orders.
Perform general housekeeping duties.
Process orders, including filling prescriptions and accepting payment.
Minimize shrink through proper product handling and storage.
