About The Position
The Pharmacy Clerk supports the Tops vision of providing friendly neighborhood service that saves customers time and money. The role provides attentive, courteous customer service when receiving written prescriptions or answering customer questions. It also includes ordering and checking supplier deliveries, stocking pharmacy shelves, and performing general housekeeping. The pharmacist must be present whenever the clerk is in the pharmacy and must perform the final check on every prescription before it is placed in a bag.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age; must be at least 18 to perform certain functions or tasks.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Follow federal, state, and local regulations and company policies related to pharmacy operations, safety, and sanitation.
- Retrieve medications from shelves, count or pour them, label containers, and price prescriptions.
- Process, prepare, and package prescriptions according to company policy.
- Enter customer data into the computer, maintain accurate records, and complete pharmacy paperwork.
- Follow the direction of the pharmacist on duty and pharmacy manager; ensure a pharmacist is present while working in the pharmacy.
- Maintain the security of controlled substances.
- Maintain adequate supplies, stock pharmacy shelves, place orders, and check in supplier deliveries.
- Perform general housekeeping duties.
- Process orders, including filling prescriptions and accepting payment.
- Minimize shrink through proper handling and storage of products.
