About The Position

SpecialtyRx is a long-term care pharmacy providing pharmaceutical services to long-term care facilities and assisted living communities. The Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) will ensure that pharmacy procedures and standard operating procedures are followed in accordance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations. The PIC will help ensure regulatory compliance and the safe supply of medical products to client facilities, under the general supervision of the COO. This position is for SpecialtyRx’s new Milford, Massachusetts location in the Boston area.

Requirements

• Licensed pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts.
• 5–10 years of experience in hospital and retail pharmacy or other medical fields.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Framework/ECM software knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate medication orders for the appropriateness of the drug and dosage, potential interactions, and proper administration.
• Ensure dispensed medications are correctly supplied and labeled.
• Recommend therapy changes to physicians and client-facility staff when necessary.
• Maintain customer databases, including medical history, clinical information, and laboratory data.
• Investigate and resolve medication-related queries.
• Communicate with facility nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members about medication-related queries.
• Supervise the preparation of medicines.
• Maintain a register of controlled drugs for legal and stock-control purposes.
• Maintain proper security conditions for medications.
• Perform on-call duties when required.
