Pharma Contracting Lead

Evio
•$200,000 - $225,000

About The Position

Evio is expanding its direct manufacturer contracting capabilities as the regulatory environment for health plans, PBMs/GPOs, and pharmaceutical manufacturers evolves. The Pharma Contracting Lead will help develop manufacturer relationships, negotiate innovative medication agreements, and drive deal flow and revenue. The role focuses on agreements that reduce medication costs for Evio’s investor and customer health plans and their members. Working with senior Evio leaders and teammates, the Lead will establish relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, develop creative deal structures, negotiate medical benefit access contracts, and manage agreements from origination through execution. The role requires deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical supply chain and payer-pharma contracting, along with hands-on execution, strategic problem-solving, and the ability to work across teams. Travel may be required based on meetings and business needs, though much deal creation and negotiation can take place virtually.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of industry experience, with extensive experience at a pharmaceutical manufacturer or in a pharma-facing role at a health plan or PBM.
  • Expertise in the full medication supply chain, including medical and pharmacy benefits, specialty pharmacy, and distributor dynamics.
  • Deep understanding of health plan pharmacy decision-making, including benefit design, PBM dynamics, and provider-payer relationships.
  • Understanding of pharmacy and medical benefit claims data.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturers’ commercial strategies, including market access, patient services, distribution, HEOR, and sales and marketing.
  • Ability to incorporate clinical and therapeutic considerations into pharma-payer deal design, including product positioning within formularies and medical policies.
  • Experience with financial structure modeling for payer-pharma deals.
  • Proven experience structuring and closing innovative pharma-payer contracts, with deep understanding of rebates, pricing and regulatory implications, formulary access, trade relations, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Strong strategic and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and drive commercial results.
  • Strong communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to build credibility and negotiate effectively with pharmaceutical executives and payer leadership.
  • Comfort working hands-on, building new approaches, and driving execution without the large teams or established processes of a traditional pharmaceutical company or PBM.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and navigate changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel based on meeting requirements and business needs.

  • Represent Evio at industry meetings, conferences, and discussions with pharmaceutical manufacturers and payer customers, including occasional live and virtual Evio board interactions.
  • Independently identify and advance new contracting opportunities, solve complex challenges, and drive deals forward in an evolving business.
  • Travel based on meeting requirements and business needs.
