About The Position

The Brain Health Imaging Centre (BHIC) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time permanent PET Systems Engineer. This role is responsible for the computer networking systems associated with the BHIC’s specialized equipment and infrastructure, including medical cyclotrons, automated radiochemistry equipment, radiation safety systems, PET, CT, and MRI scanners, and related imaging equipment. The position involves planning and developing computing environments, software and hardware integration, maintaining and troubleshooting servers and workstations, designing and building specialized devices, and ensuring quality control and assurance procedures to optimize equipment performance.

Requirements

  • Computer networking systems associated with specialized equipment and infrastructure, including medical cyclotrons; commercial and in-house built automated radiochemistry equipment; radiation safety systems; PET, CT, and MRI scanners for both human and preclinical use; ancillary devices; and related imaging equipment for preclinical studies.
  • Planning and developing computing environments.
  • Software and hardware integration.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing repairs of servers, workstations, and associated hardware.
  • Designing, building, and testing of specialized devices and systems for radiochemistry, PET imaging, and physics experimentation and measurements.
  • Quality control and development of quality assurance procedures to optimize the performance of equipment systems to minimize failures.
  • Compliance with all applicable legislation and requirements including, but not limited to, those under the Nuclear Control and Safety Act (CNSC) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Compliance with CAMH policies and procedures, and those specific to the Brain Health Imaging Centre.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, integrate, maintain, upgrade, and provide technical support of BHIC specialized computer systems, networks, data servers, workstations, and associated software & hardware.
  • Support and assist in the monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cyclotrons and associated subsystems; radiochemistry devices, units, and related equipment; radiation safety & monitoring systems; and PET imaging equipment and ancillary devices.
  • Participate in and support BHIC quality assurance.
  • Adhere to and promote the highest standards of engineering, radiation safety, and workplace practices for self, co-workers, research participants, CAMH staff, and the public.
  • Perform all work in compliance with all applicable legislation and requirements including, but not limited to, those under the Nuclear Control and Safety Act (CNSC) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Perform all duties in compliance with CAMH policies and procedures, and those specific to the Brain Health Imaging Centre.
  • Provide support to the Manager, Engineering Division as needed for other initiatives.
  • Support the monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of BHIC ‘s specialized equipment and infrastructure.
