About The Position
An internship with the Hilb Group offers students the opportunity to explore multiple career paths within a growing insurance brokerage. As a rapidly expanding organization, we provide hands-on learning experiences and exposure to real-world projects that support both personal and professional development. Interns work closely with experienced team members, gain insight into our business operations, and contribute to meaningful analytics initiatives for our benefits department. You will also have the opportunity to travel to our corporate office in Richmond, VA, where you’ll connect with fellow interns, network with company leaders, and participate in a volunteer event. This internship may lead to full-time employment opportunities upon graduation. We’re excited to help you grow with us!
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Curious, motivated, and eager to learn about the insurance industry and grow professionally
Nice To Haves
- Preferred majors include, Risk Management & Insurance, Acturarial Science, Mathematics, Business Management, or related fields
Responsibilities
- Learn and utilize the agency management system to support employee benefits analysis, reporting, and client deliverables
- Develop a foundational understanding of personal lines coverage
- Support personal lines associates, service, and sales teams by shadowing client meetings and internal strategy discussions
- Compile and maintain records to support the account management team
- Gain exposure to the clients we serve and the industries they operate in, with an emphasis on benefits strategy and cost management
- Learn about personal lines insurance carriers and vendors, including plan structures, funding arrangements, and reporting requirements
