About The Position

Personal Bankers build and enhance new and existing customer relationships by selling retail banking products and services, making internal referrals, and making consumer loans. This role involves establishing deposit accounts for consumers and businesses, providing referrals to internal bank partners, and handling consumer and residential real estate loans. The position also requires providing exemplary customer service, problem resolution, and account follow-up. Additionally, the Personal Banker serves as a member of the retail management team, may provide teller line support, oversee customer safe deposit box access, and maintain thorough product knowledge. Community outreach and participation in community events are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft products required
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and organizational skills required
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position sitting 90% of work day.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer, and printer.
  • Constantly communicates with customers in person, via telephone, and by email. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Constantly inspects documents for accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Sell retail banking products and services to customers and prospects; including proactively cross selling bank products and services such as credit cards, Certificates of Deposit, online banking, bill pay, mobile banking, e-statements, etc.
  • Establish deposit accounts for consumers and businesses.
  • Provide referrals to internal bank partners including insurance, commercial, investments, mortgage, small business, and agriculture.
  • Provide customer contact for consumer loans including auto and personal loans; collect customer information, underwrite loan request, get loan officer approval as needed, input basic customer information into compliance software, and close loan with customer.
  • Comply with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act and all related residential real estate mortgage regulations.
  • Provide customer contact for residential real estate, complete application, input application information into web application, print application, and collect income verification documents.
  • May close loan with customer as requested.
  • Provide exemplary customer service including problem resolution and account follow up.
  • Serve as a member of the retail management team.
  • Provide teller line support as needed including managing lobby guests.
  • Oversee customer safe deposit box access as necessary.
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date product knowledge including competitor offerings.
  • Provide educational outreach on bank products to community and businesses.
  • Participate in community events and organizations as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
