About The Position

The Senior Personal Banker engages with customers to build strong relationships and assist the team in achieving branch goals. This role provides excellent customer service, requires flexibility to accommodate staffing needs, and involves working independently while managing time effectively. The position demands adherence to policies and procedures, maintaining accuracy, and contributing to branch meetings and culture. Key responsibilities include promoting products and services based on customer needs, understanding their financial goals, and providing consultative advice. The Banker will assist with account opening and maintenance for both consumer and business customers, including loan applications and closings. A strong understanding of digital systems and their functionality is essential for supporting and promoting digital banking solutions. The role also involves processing teller transactions, maintaining cash drawers, and assisting with credit card applications. Proactive in-bound and out-bound call handling is expected to build relationships, identify expansion opportunities, and solve issues. Referrals to business partners are crucial for ensuring customers can meet all their financial needs within Midwest BankCentre. The Senior Personal Banker will also facilitate Financial Empowerment courses and assist in leading financial education initiatives. Additionally, they will mentor and train new employees, develop sales strategies, and assist with MBC@Work presentations. A thorough understanding of federal banking regulations, including BSA, USA Patriot Act, and AML, is required, along with obtaining and maintaining NMLS and Notary Public certifications. The employee must remain aware of and adhere to the Bank's compliance requirements, risk management concepts, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • A minimum of five years bank customer contact or retail sales experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage clients effectively.
  • Technologically savvy with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and software.
  • Problem-solving mindset and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings, as per business needs.
  • Willing and able to travel to other locations/branches.
  • Willing and able to work required overtime.
  • Adherence to Bank’s compliance requirements and risk management concepts, expectations, policies and procedures.

  • Assist customers with processing transactions, such as deposits, withdrawals, or payments, resolving complaints or account discrepancies and answering questions.
  • Maintain and balance cash drawers and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Be proactive, using contact management methodology to build relationships over time, identifying opportunities for expanding customer relationships, making next-best product recommendations, and solving issues or problems before they arise.
  • Connect customers to experienced banking partners when appropriate.
  • Assist in leading financial education courses aimed at improving the community understanding of finances and ways of achieving their financial goals.
  • Serve as a mentor/trainer for new employees, help develop strategies for more effective sales, both individually and as a part of the team and assist with MBC@Work presentations to build stronger relationships with business customers.
  • Gain knowledge of and adhere to BSA, USA Patriot Act, AML, obtain and maintain NMLS and Notary Public.
