About The Position

The Personal Banker provides excellent customer service while identifying sales opportunities, conducting account transactions, and executing consumer-focused and business relationship-building efforts at a full-service banking center. The role centers on daily sales initiatives and proactive customer interaction, including discussing banking needs in person and by phone. It also involves significant outbound calling to onboard customers, develop new retail relationships, and promote products to new and existing customers. The Personal Banker supports targeted outside sales activities and community service opportunities with the Banking Center Manager. Operational responsibilities include following Bank policies, procedures, and security measures; supporting day-to-day banking center operations; and, as assigned, working as a teller, assisting with supervision, or providing other support toward sales and operational objectives. The role is cross-trained and expected to assist with operational duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
At least 3 years of cash-handling, sales, or customer-service experience.
Ability to generate new financial relationships through outbound calling, internal business development, and customer relationship building.
Ability to interact effectively with customers, build positive relationships, and clearly communicate concepts and product information verbally and in writing.
Strong product knowledge appropriate to the role’s selling and product-promotion expectations.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and adapt.
Ability to solve practical problems and handle situations with limited standardization.
Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-form instructions.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of banking experience.
At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
Strong consumer lending skills and a solid understanding of consumer lending products.
Sound mathematical and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Model the Bank’s Mission, Vision, and Pledge.
Assess customers’ financial needs and recommend appropriate products or services.
Meet and exceed defined sales goals for loans, deposits, partner referrals, and profitability.
Promote the Bank’s sales culture and products to achieve individual and team sales goals.
Communicate and partner with branch staff and peers, contribute to a positive team environment, and informally coach others.
Monitor performance against banking center goals, adjust individual goals, and initiate sales promotions as needed.
Conduct outbound calls using customer lists to support onboarding, prospecting, and product promotion.
Make appropriate business-line referrals and educate the team on identifying opportunities to advance customers’ financial wellness.
Set priorities and implement defined sales and service activities.
Promote Bank products and services in the community and support outside sales activities.
Support day-to-day operations, including customer service, opening and closing procedures, vault duties, cash-level controls, inventory, audit requirements, and compliance.
Participate in sales and staff meetings and lead meetings when assigned.
Serve customers and prospective customers by explaining banking products and professionally resolving problems or issues.
Build effective working relationships with internal business partners and seek constructive peer feedback when appropriate.
Use sound judgment and follow established guidelines and procedures, seeking assistance when needed.
Maintain security controls to protect the employee and banking center from criminal or fraudulent activity and unnecessary risks.
Protect sensitive information and maintain customer confidentiality.
Answer incoming telephone calls and perform additional duties that support the Banking Center.
Work as a teller or assist with other operational duties as assigned.
