About The Position

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and driven Full-Time Solar Permit Representative / Processor to join our team. In this role, you will manage the preparation, submission, tracking, and approval of residential and commercial solar permitting packages. You will serve as the primary liaison between our engineering team, project managers, and local New York municipalities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience in solar permitting, construction expediting, municipal zoning, or related experience (New York experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Exceptional organizational skills, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple tight deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with AS400, Jurisdiction specific portals, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for occasional travel to local municipal offices to drop off or retrieve permit packages.
  • Undergo a background check (Having a criminal history does not automatically disqualify anyone from being hired.)

Responsibilities

  • Compile and review engineering schematics, architectural plans, and structural calculations for permit accuracy.
  • Submit permit applications to local building departments, zoning boards, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) across New York.
  • Monitor the status of all submitted permits, proactively address corrections, and resolve jurisdiction delays.
  • Partner with design engineers, project managers, and installation crews to ensure compliance with local building and electrical codes.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of permit statuses, fees, approvals, and paperwork.
