About The Position

Responsible for the performance of various clerical and administrative duties requiring the use of considerable judgment skills. Interviews applicants to determine scope of proposed work; approves and issues permits for mechanical work, minor construction, alteration and repairs of structures. Provides permit information and answers questions from designers, applicants and contractors. Verifies cost estimates, computes permit fees, processes submitted plans, and completes permit applications. Maintains inspection scheduling records, coordinates with inspectors in the field, and prepares reports and schedules for inspectors and manager.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.)
  • 2 years of clerical experience related to engineering or construction technology (engineering, construction, or architectural operation) or code enforcement work
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment
  • Applicants are responsible for providing all necessary employment dates, experience, training, or any other requirements as stated in the Exam Announcement, in order for their application to be considered for certification and admittance to the examination process
  • Must pass a job-related medical examination
  • Must provide documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity
  • Must pass a drug screen
  • Must pass a nicotine screening
  • Must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment

Nice To Haves

  • One year of college level course work in engineering, construction technology, or any construction related science may be substituted for one year of experience
