About The Position

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities related to providing professional and technical services and assistance to commercial transportation operations for registrants/carriers both in the United States and internationally. This position will analyze information presented by carriers to determine the registrants/carrier’s load and provide assistance in interpreting and applying current laws, policies, and procedures for safe travel through the state of Oklahoma.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in an inbound call center environment
  • Ability to work with and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of basic accounting methods and principles
  • Knowledge of various registrant/carrier registration process and procedures
  • Ability to learn and apply the state, agency, and federal laws, regulations, and policies governing interstate and instrastate motor carriers,
  • Ability to interpret furnished maps and charts to accurately route oversize and/or overweight loads
  • General knowledge of business practices related to state and federal regulations, business documents and records to verify compliance with properly operating a business
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, public administration or a closely related field plus one additional year of qualifying experience.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax revenue, apportioned vehicle registration, customer service, auditing, or closely related work for each year of the required education plus one additional year of qualifying experience. One year of qualifying experience in customer service, auditing, or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Be available to accept calls from registrants/carriers to provide customer service and help as needed by the registrants/carriers and has the ability to properly answer inquiries or direct the customer to the proper authority as related to various state and federal laws/statues and/or rules/regulations.
  • Must show the ability to generate the proper permit, determine and collect the correct Oversize and/or Overweight fees for issued permits via cash, surety bond account, or credit card.
  • Ability to navigate efficiently and correctly through the permit software program and route permits with special circumstances to the proper employee in the division. ie: supervisors, heavy weight specialist, restriction manager, escort specialist, etc.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and other materials related to registrant/carriers needs
  • Maintain various records and correspondence related to registrants/carriers as needed
  • Responsible for ensuring that maps, construction lists, and rules and regulations are up to date and reflect the most current information
  • Has the ability to properly answer inquiries from the public, or direct the public to the proper authority as related to various state and federal laws/statues and/or rules/regulations.
  • Review, audit, and edit forms to verify computations, completeness and status; resolves invalid information and responds to registrants’/carriers’ inquiries on a full range of registrations, applications, insurance requirements, federal requirements, explains the provisions of various registrations, license or certificate laws.
  • Verify complete applications and requirements needed for the registrant/carrier to be approved to apply for permit.
  • Coordinates with other divisions, sections, or agencies as needed to clarify policies and procedures, determine status of individual accounts, issue clearances, and resolve problems; routes requests for materials, publications, or information to appropriate units for processing.
