About The Position

The Perioperative RN provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation to support patients’ comfort and well-being. The nurse carries out a plan of care tailored to unit competencies and the target patient population, and coordinates care with healthcare providers to ensure safe, effective, quality patient care. The position is part-time and PRN, with a day schedule at Indian Creek Medical Plaza 2.

Requirements

High school graduation.
Associate degree in nursing.
At least 1 year of experience as a clinical nurse.
Registered Nurse license for Kansas or Missouri, or a compact license.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 14 days.
ADN-prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017, must complete a BSN by their fifth anniversary of employment as an RN with UKHA.

Responsibilities

Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and patient-care priorities.
Collaborate and coordinate patient care with the interdisciplinary team.
Complete comprehensive patient assessments specific to the clinical area or unit.
Develop and update patient plans of care.
Document all aspects of care thoroughly in accordance with hospital policy.
Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and revise the plan of care as needed.
Follow organizational policies to provide safe patient care, including medication administration and handoffs.
Implement the plan of care using available resources and best evidence.
Integrate patient and family teaching into daily care.
Involve patients and families in identifying expected outcomes and goals.
Participate in unit and/or department quality-improvement efforts.
Perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department; other duties may be assigned as required.
