About The Position

As part of a team, the Performance Field Technician I installs and supports commercial voice, video, and data customers across Shentel’s fiber networks and assists with commercial fiber deployments during optical network commercial upgrades. The role provides technical support, remote diagnostics, maintenance, and equipment installation in headends, hubs, POP sites, and commercial customer locations. It also involves integrating new technologies and network system upgrades into existing Shentel infrastructure to support broadband fiber/coax connectivity for data, voice, and video services. The position supports the Radford, Wytheville, and Lebanon, Virginia areas; the selected candidate must live, work, and be able to travel in the market.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in an Advanced Technician role (Broadband or Maintenance Technician) or equivalent industry experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Must live, work, and be able to travel in the Radford, Wytheville, and Lebanon, Virginia market.
• Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and in varying topographic, wet, and dry locations.
• Ability to lift and carry loads of 70 lbs. or more.
• Ability to work in hubs, headends, POP sites, and network rooms; stand 50–70% of the time; and perform work near power sources.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of daily work time, as required.
