About The Position

A percussion instructor teaches students the fundamentals and advanced concepts of playing drums, cymbals, and other percussive musical instruments. The percussion section, also called the drumline, helps players in a marching band keep in time with one another on the field.

Requirements

• Shall demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers. and adults
• Shall demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
• Shall hold all certificates required by Kentucky law.
• Shall have the ability to sit, stoop, possibly lift up to 50 pounds or more, any and all body movements as related to the job description.
• Shall have knowledge of CPR and First Aid.
• Shall be knowledgeable of blood borne pathogens and other infectious materials and the procedures of dealing with them.

• Present a positive image of the school to parents and convey to them the school's genuine concern with the education, growth and development of each student.
• Seek to establish friendly and cooperative partnerships between home and school.
• Work to develop a positive public relationship between the school district and the community.
• Carry out assignments in a timely manner without undue checking.
• React positively to directives.
• Have a willingness to cooperate with the superintendent, district administrators, principals and staff.
• Maintain the confidentiality, both verbally and in written form, of each student's educational record.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Understand, model and implement the board policy code of ethics to all students and fellow colleagues.
• Adhere to School Board of Education Policies and Procedures.
• Provide leadership to an organized group with an established leadership plan.
• Advise officers on monthly agendas and agenda items.
• Supervise all fund-raising activities.
• Keep accurate records on budget expenditures.
• Assist students with any and all competitions.
• Prepare a detailed annual report highlighting the activity accomplishments, awards, participation levels and recommendations for improvement.
• Actively recruit members.
• Support the school district and the respective school's activities philosophies.
• Be responsible for supervising students on out-of-town activities. This may involve staying overnight.
• Promote and directly work toward academic achievement during the high school career and serve as a liaison for post-secondary scholarships and other financial incentives.
• Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the supervisor.

Benefits

• Commensurate with the school district's salary schedule for supplemental work. Salary is based on the specific title of the assigned Increment position.
