About The Position

A brass instructor teaches students the fundamentals and advanced concepts of playing brass instruments. The instructor will determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines, present a positive image of the school to parents, and seek to establish friendly and cooperative partnerships between home and school. The role also involves working to develop positive public relationships between the school district and the community, carrying out assignments in a timely manner, and reacting positively to directives. There is a willingness to cooperate with the superintendent, district administrators, principals, and staff. The instructor must maintain the confidentiality of student educational records, strive to improve professional competence, and take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. The instructor will model and implement the board policy code of ethics and adhere to School Board of Education Policies and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers, and adults.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
  • Hold all certificates required by Kentucky law.
  • Have the ability to sit, stoop, possibly lift up to 50 pounds or more, and perform any and all body movements as related to the job description.
  • Have knowledge of CPR and First Aid.
  • Be knowledgeable of blood borne pathogens and other infectious materials and the procedures of dealing with them.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all fund-raising activities.
  • Keep accurate records on budget expenditures.
  • Assist students with any and all competitions.
  • Prepare a detailed annual report highlighting activity accomplishments, awards, participation levels, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Actively recruit members.
  • Support the school district and the respective school's activities philosophies.
  • Supervise students on out-of-town activities, which may involve staying overnight.
  • Promote and directly work toward academic achievement during the high school career.
  • Serve as a liaison for post-secondary scholarships and other financial incentives.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the supervisor.

Benefits

  • Salary is based on the specific title of the assigned Increment position.
