About The Position

This role serves as a key point of contact for employees, addressing inquiries about policies, procedures, and benefits, while also investigating and resolving employee relations issues. The Generalist will provide guidance to People Support Leaders, coach supervisors and managers on various HR functions, and support conflict resolution to foster a positive work environment. Additionally, the role involves coordinating recruitment and onboarding processes, supporting performance management, ensuring compliance with laws and policies, administering benefits and payroll, and facilitating training. A significant part of the role includes maintaining an HR presence on the plant floor, partnering with safety and operations, and assisting with workers' compensation claims.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or Human Resources preferred.
  • Two (2) - Five (5) years related experience or training.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, to include, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Strong HRIS skills necessary; preferably with Ultimate Software.
  • Ability to work the required schedule and arrive at work on time, and work alternative schedules to accommodate the needs of the business.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally, courteously and professionally with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace concerns.
  • Independently address and investigate employee relations issues, including attendance, performance, conduct, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to People Support Leaders on escalation matters.
  • Coach supervisors and managers on employee relations, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Support conflict resolution and promote a positive, respectful work environment.
  • Participate in committee and special projects as needed when time allows.
  • Coordinate hourly and salaried hiring efforts, including internal job postings, interviewing, and selection.
  • Collaborate with the recruiter throughout the hiring process, including requisition management, candidate interviews, and selection decisions.
  • Partner with plant leadership to ensure staffing needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding processes.
  • Ensure completion of pre-employment requirements (I-9s).
  • Support performance review processes and documentation.
  • Assist leaders with corrective actions and performance improvement plans (PIP), working with People Support Business Partners.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with company policies, federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
  • Support employee benefit enrollments, changes, and general inquiries.
  • Partner with payroll to ensure accurate processing of timekeeping, pay changes, and employee data.
  • Assist employees with leave administration (FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, personal leaves).
  • Ensure the accuracy of employee data entered into UKG, including new hires, job changes, and terminations.
  • Coordinate & facilitate required training, including compliance, safety, and policy-related training.
  • Support leadership development initiatives and employee skill development as needed.
  • Partner with safety and operations leadership to support workplace safety initiatives.
  • Assist with workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work processes.
  • Maintain visible HR presence on the plant floor and engage regularly with employees.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
