About The Position

Gamma is a rapidly growing AI company seeking a People Operations Lead to build the operational backbone of its People function. This role is crucial for scaling the company's processes and infrastructure to support future growth. The ideal candidate will create AI-native workflows, automate manual processes, and leverage AI for insights from people data. Responsibilities include managing HRIS and people systems, employee lifecycle processes (onboarding to off-boarding), performance infrastructure, compliance, benefits, and employee data. The role also involves partnering with functional leads and people managers on organizational health, coaching, and navigating people challenges. This is the first dedicated People Ops hire, offering an opportunity to build systems from the ground up.

Requirements

  • 6-9+ years of experience, with significant time in People Ops or HR at a high-growth tech company, or experience in consulting, strategy, or business operations with a focus on building people ops infrastructure.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and figuring things out independently.
  • Operationally rigorous and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and iterate.
  • Experience evaluating and selecting HRIS platforms (e.g., Rippling, Workday, BambooHR), having led a selection process.
  • Proven experience building processes from scratch.
  • Strong data skills, capable of building reports and identifying key insights.
  • Proactive in adopting and utilizing new tools, especially AI, to solve problems.
  • Low tolerance for repetitive manual work; a strong inclination to automate using AI tools, no-code platforms, scripts, etc.
  • Preference for building new systems over maintaining existing ones.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and recommend HRIS options, and own the implementation across payroll, IT, onboarding, reporting, and employee records.
  • Optimize the people tech stack with a focus on automation, AI-powered workflows, and low-friction tools.
  • Own employee data infrastructure, reporting, and analytics, using AI for proactive insights.
  • Build internal tools and automations to provide managers with self-service access to information and workflows.
  • Design and manage a world-class onboarding experience, leveraging AI for personalization and reduced manual coordination.
  • Own the end-to-end off-boarding process, ensuring it is clean, compliant, and thoughtful.
  • Build scalable processes for a distributed, international workforce, prioritizing automation.
  • Set up and manage performance review cycles, including system configuration and manager calibration.
  • Build the infrastructure for ongoing coaching and performance management.
  • Partner with managers on employee development conversations and performance concerns.
  • Serve as the day-to-day people partner for functional leads and people managers, advising on organizational health and flagging risks.
  • Support managers in becoming better leaders through coaching and just-in-time support.
