People & Culture Program Manager

Hippocratic AIMenlo Park, CA

About The Position

Hippocratic AI is seeking a People & Culture Program Manager, a senior individual contributor role focused on embedding the company's core values and leadership principles into its people systems. This role is responsible for translating abstract principles into observable behaviors and decision criteria for hiring, performance evaluation, and employee development. The goal is to ensure that as the company scales, its foundational values are maintained and strengthened. The role requires influencing teams and leaders without direct authority, building credibility through frameworks and relationships. The company emphasizes a culture-add approach, aiming for diversity of perspectives and backgrounds while upholding its principles. The role is based full-time at the Menlo Park headquarters, with in-person collaboration being crucial for building trust and relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 8+ years of experience in Program Management within People/HR organizations
  • Demonstrated experience influencing without authority — a track record of moving teams, leaders, and processes you didn't formally own, through credibility and relationship-building rather than org-chart power
  • Experience operationalizing values or leadership principles — turning abstract belief statements into observable, assessable behaviors, ideally in a fast-growth company
  • Structured interviewing fluency — rubric design, interviewer calibration, bar-raiser mechanisms, and debrief discipline, and knowing how to scale these
  • Understanding of performance/promotion systems — how evaluation, feedback, and promotion processes shape behavior, and how to embed values into them
  • Ability to design employee-listening programs (surveys, sensing sessions, focus groups) and convert that signal into action leadership will actually use
  • Judgment and discretion for high-trust work directly with founders/senior leaders, including delivering candid upward feedback
  • Genuine mission alignment with a safety-first "Do No Harm" healthcare AI mission

Nice To Haves

  • A current, sophisticated grasp of culture-add vs. culture-fit hiring and concrete methods for mitigating affinity bias in selection and evaluation
  • Prior experience specifically translating principles across both hiring AND performance/review systems (not just one)
  • Experience in an organization of comparable scale/growth stage to Hippocratic AI's current stage
  • Comfort operating with no direct reports or line authority — candidates who've thrived in similarly structural, staff-level IC roles will likely map best here

Responsibilities

  • Steward and operationalize leadership principles by translating them into observable behaviors and decision criteria for hiring and evaluation.
  • Infuse leadership principles throughout the hiring process, including designing structured rubrics, interviewer guidance, bar-raiser mechanisms, and debriefs.
  • Train and influence interviewing teams to assess candidates against principles consistently and fairly.
  • Make concrete expectations, such as the in-person Creativity expectation, legible to candidates.
  • Wire leadership principles into performance and review systems, including evaluation, recognition, and promotion standards.
  • Drive the "Voice of Hippocratic AI" process by standing up and running listening engines (surveys, sensing sessions, focus groups) to measure culture.
  • Translate employee feedback signals into insights and present them candidly to leadership.
  • Help drive changes indicated by employee feedback.
  • Protect against affinity bias and homogeneity in the hiring process.
  • Design principle-based assessments that strengthen culture while expanding diversity.
