About The Position

The People Advisor is the local People representative at Legora, providing employees, managers, and People Operations colleagues with practical guidance on local employment practices, policies, and people matters. The role handles local cases from intake through closure, fills process and policy gaps, and helps ensure that the employee experience in the assigned market is accurate, timely, and well managed. It is a hands-on operational role within People Operations, with responsibility for applying judgment locally and escalating matters that require specialist expertise. The People Advisor partners with Employee Relations & Compliance, which owns jurisdictional frameworks and specialist support for complex, contested, or legally sensitive matters. The role also works with People Business Partners, sharing local insights and supporting people initiatives and organizational changes in the market. Success involves providing timely, consistent local support, maintaining clear and thorough case documentation, making immediate and complete handoffs when escalation is needed, and raising local patterns and risks early.

Requirements

  • Experience in an HR, People Operations, or HR generalist role; some exposure to employee relations casework is preferred.
  • Good understanding of local employment practices, employee relations, and HR policies, with the ability to apply them in real-world situations.
  • Ability to remain neutral and steady under pressure, including when working with senior stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment about when to act and when to escalate, with a preference for flagging concerns early rather than guessing.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with documentation clear enough for another person to take over a case.
  • Comfort working within a defined playbook while applying independent judgment to how it is used.
  • Genuine interest in growing and in the opportunities this role can lead to.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to employee relations casework.

Responsibilities

  • Advise employees, managers, and People Operations colleagues on local employment practices, policies, and people matters that require interpretation or judgment.
  • Manage local cases from start to finish within the scope of the role’s certification, including absence management, ongoing performance concerns, and restructuring conversations.
  • Scope, document, and close cases appropriately.
  • Handle intake for leave, accommodation, and absence requests, resolving routine matters and identifying those that require escalation.
  • Build out local processes and policies and ensure people programs are effectively implemented in the local market.
  • Identify opportunities to improve local processes, employee experiences, and ways of working, and collaborate with other People teams to implement improvements.
  • Apply the market’s jurisdiction playbook accurately and consistently, and flag where it does not fit local circumstances.
  • Recognize when a matter becomes formal, contested, or legally sensitive, and hand it off the same day with the information needed for a seamless transition.
  • Keep certification and calibration current so casework meets consistent standards across markets.
  • Work with People Business Partners and Employee Relations & Compliance to share local trends, recurring issues, and emerging risks that can inform broader people decisions and improvements.
