About The Position

This role involves serving as a Peer Tutor, Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Leader, or Undergraduate Writing Commons Tutor. The position requires students to be enrolled in classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary institution, or a secondary school. Successful candidates must be able to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and possess basic knowledge of office software and communication tools. Specific departments may have additional minimum requirements.

Requirements

  • Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester.
  • Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Grade of “B” or higher in the courses you wish to tutor or work as a PAL Leader.
  • Must have completed at least one semester of undergraduate college-level coursework at Ohio University.
  • Must be available to work 6 – 12 hours every week for the entire semester.
  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience.
  • Currently enrolled at Ohio University.
  • Qualified to tutor or lead PAL sessions for 1000- & 2000-level courses in one or more academic subject areas.

Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Utilize basic knowledge of office software and communication tools.
  • Potentially tutor or lead PAL sessions for 1000- & 2000-level courses in academic subject areas.
  • Be available to work during the Academic Achievement Center's operating hours.
