About The Position

Seeking a highly experienced educator for individualized academic support for an intellectually gifted elementary-aged student. The student is bright, highly verbal, curious, and eager to learn when connected to the material. He has ADHD and autism-spectrum traits, with primary challenges related to handwriting, fine-motor endurance, written expression, task initiation, and confidence. The primary goal is to strengthen academic skills while building confidence and maintaining a positive relationship with learning.

Requirements

• Certified Reading Specialist strongly preferred
• Master’s degree or advanced training in Reading, Literacy, Special Education, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience working with elementary-aged students
• Demonstrated expertise in reading, writing, and written expression
• Experience supporting students with ADHD and/or autism-spectrum traits
• Experience with handwriting and fine-motor development
• Familiarity with structured literacy and/or multisensory instruction
• Experience providing individualized, 1:1 instruction
• Strong understanding of executive functioning and task initiation challenges
• Ability to use creative, engaging, and motivating instructional strategies
• Warm, patient, encouraging instructional approach
• Ability to adapt instruction based on the student's needs and emotional state
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with parents
• Commitment to building both academic skills and student confidence

Nice To Haves

• Advanced training in reading, literacy, special education, or a related field
• Experience with multisensory or structured literacy approaches
• Experience with positive reinforcement, gamification, and technology-based learning
