About The Position

Pathways to Life, Inc. is seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join their Community Support Team in Greenville and surrounding counties. This role is ideal for individuals whose own recovery journey has equipped them with the experience and perspective to assist others. The specialist will work with individuals in their homes and communities to foster confidence, strengthen connections, and support the achievement of personal recovery goals.

Requirements

• Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification.
• Personal lived experience with recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license.
• Reliable transportation and current automobile insurance.
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area.
• Basic computer and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

• Community-based behavioral health experience.
• Familiarity with North Carolina Medicaid behavioral health services.
• Experience with an electronic health record (EHR).

Responsibilities

• Build supportive, recovery-focused relationships using lived experience.
• Provide individual and group peer support, mentoring, and encouragement.
• Assist individuals in identifying and working towards personal recovery goals.
• Support areas such as wellness, coping skills, relapse prevention, daily living skills, employment readiness, and community involvement.
• Connect individuals with resources like housing, employment, education, healthcare, transportation, and benefits.
• Encourage self-advocacy, independence, wellness, and healthy community connections.
• Participate in Person-Centered Planning and support identified recovery goals.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
• Communicate progress and concerns with the Qualified Professional and Community Support Team.
• Follow agency procedures during behavioral health crises or emergencies.
