About The Position

This role provides direction and oversight for the Peer Support and PATH Outreach programs, ensuring that recovery goals, Life Skills coaching, and individual/group recovery sessions are completed according to established timelines and policies. The position involves training staff on documentation and service delivery, conducting regular case reviews with supervised specialists, and evaluating their overall performance. The supervisor will provide ongoing feedback and support through various methods, including staff meetings, data reviews, training, and observation. Additionally, the role includes providing in-field supervision during street outreach, completing annual employee evaluations, identifying and arranging training needs, teaching and monitoring person-centered principles, and reviewing administrative documentation for accuracy. The supervisor will also attend management meetings and ensure facility inspections and safety drills are completed.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Lived Experience - The PSS must have lived experience with a Behavioral Health diagnosis. A Behavioral Health diagnosis can include a diagnosis with mental health challenges, addiction challenges, or co-occurring disorders.
  • Primary Diagnosis - The PSS must have a primary diagnosis of mental illness and a strong desire to identify themselves as a person with mental illness. The primary diagnosis may not be a substance abuse disorder, although substance abuse disorder may be a secondary diagnosis.
  • Educational Standards - PSS must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or a GED.
  • Age Requirements - The PSS must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Time in Recovery - PSS must have at least twelve (12) months of demonstrated recovery as indicated by SAMHSA's working definition of recovery.
  • Certification - The PSS must be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
  • Must have own reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel during the day to outlying parishes as required
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Software (i.e. Word, Excel) and computer literate
  • Must be a team player

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Training – PSS must complete formal training in family support and/or peer support annually.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and oversight of the Peer Support and PATH Outreach programs to ensure necessary recovery goals, Life Skills coaching, and individual and/or group recovery sessions are completed according to funding source timelines, and policy timelines.
  • Provide training and education related to documentation and service delivery expectations for Peer Support and PATH Outreach services.
  • Conduct individual face-to-face sessions with each supervised Peer Support Specialist(s) and/or Outreach Specialist(s) to review individual cases regularly.
  • Routinely evaluate the overall performance of assigned Peer Support Specialist(s) and/or Outreach Specialist(s) through employee evaluation tools to assess the quality of job performances and the need for improvement.
  • Provide ongoing review, assessment, problem-solving, and feedback regarding the delivery of Peer Support Services and/or Outreach Services through staff meetings, data/report reviews, formal and informal training, and observation.
  • At least monthly provide random in-field supervision to Outreach Specialist(s) during street outreach.
  • At least once per year, complete a written employee evaluation for each assigned Peer Support Specialist(s) and/or Outreach Specialist(s) using the designated employee assessment tool.
  • Identify training needs for Peer Support Specialist(s) and/or Outreach Specialist(s) (individually and as a group) and arrange for training as indicated.
  • Teach and monitor the application of person-centered principles and practices.
  • Review administrative documentation required of each supervised Peer Support Specialist(s) and/or Outreach Specialist(s) for completeness and accuracy (i.e. timesheets and mileage reports).
  • Attend and actively participate in management team meetings.
  • Ensure facility inspections and/or safety and emergency drills are completed timely upon request.
