About The Position

To serve as a person's individual advocate, develop opportunities for skill development and assure that the person's choices drive their goals and plans.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Must be a Certified Peer Specialist or have provisional certification through NY York Peer Specialists (NYCPS) or The New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB).
• Must have an understanding of recovery concepts and person-centered approaches and be successfully implementing them in their own recovery.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a person's individual advocate.
• Develop opportunities for skill development.
• Assure that the person's choices drive their goals and plans.
• Participate in orientation and continuing education.
• Update and maintain knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
• Complete population-specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.
• Utilize and maintain training and educational opportunities yearly.
