About The Position

Delivers direct patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Performs tasks that do not require nursing judgments or administration of medications. Duties include, but not limited to: assisting patients with ADLs as needed, obtaining vital signs, completing 15-minute safety checks, ensuring unit is properly stocked and clean, and monitoring patients and visitors to ensure safety. Responsible for performing tasks as delegated by the assigned RN, including but not limited to: phlebotomy draws, obtaining EKGs, completing blood glucose testing, assisting with patient care and transfer utilizing appropriate assistive devices, and administrative tasks as needed. Additional responsibilities include promoting the safety of patients, self and others, identifying escalating behaviors early on and working to diffuse the situation, and working to promote a restraint free environment. Assisting with emergency safety situations including restraint application, seclusion, Code G/Code M responses and 1:1 Safety watches. Is accountable for the patient care they deliver. Adheres to St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center standards of care and practice.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years healthcare related work experience.
  • Customer service and strong communication skills preferred.
  • Use moderately complex patient care devices and medical equipment.
  • Actively use a specific application of a personal computer.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.
  • First Aid training required.
