As a Peer Mentor I in the Transitions program, you will work directly with young adults to help them develop academic, career, and life skills that support greater independence. You will serve as a positive role model, offering guidance, encouragement, and support as students navigate new experiences and work toward personal goals. The role includes attending classes with students, helping them develop positive relationships, supporting community activities, and encouraging responsible decision-making. Transitions, a program of The Arc Lexington, supports high school graduates and young adults with autism spectrum disorders and other learning disabilities. Through hands-on experiences, personalized support, and community involvement, the program helps students build skills and confidence to pursue their goals. Transitions has campuses in Mayfield, Cobleskill, and Albany.
