About The Position

The Student Learning Center seeks a Peer Learning Development Coordinator to lead peer-learning operations, including certification, data tracking, and program coordination. This role oversees tutoring services and supervises approximately 60 PLAs to ensure high-quality academic support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • 36 months in student programming, student services or closely related experience.
  • Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 84 months experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in program management, student training, or a similar educational role, ideally within a university learning center or tutoring environment.
  • Proficiency in data management, program assessment, and related academic technologies.
  • Master's degree in Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification standards and best practices in academic support services.
  • Experience supervising staff in interactive and engaging learning settings such as classrooms, tutoring sessions, etc., or coaching and training individuals in group facilitation techniques.
  • Proven ability to manage schedules and balance competing priorities in a dynamic academic environment.
  • Experience leading a program, including managing, directing, and establishing processes or initiatives.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong rapport with other departments within a university setting to foster collaboration and support academic success.
  • Experience with program evaluation, assessment, reporting, and appointment tracking.
  • Strong skills in communication, staff training, and relationship building.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Action Tutoring program, which supports over 95 courses through walk-in sessions, appointments, and consultations.
  • Provide direct supervision for approximately 60 Peer Learning Assistants (PLAs), ensuring effective scheduling, clear communication, and high-quality academic support.
  • Collaborate with the Director to further develop and enhance peer educator training programs aligned with the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) standards.
  • Manage documentation required for CRLA certification, ensuring all records are accurate and meet program approval requirements.
  • Track and maintain data on student visits to Action Tutoring programs, and create regular reports to communicate student usage trends to the Director.
  • Oversee event marketing by tracking the SLC marketing calendar, coordinating with the Marketing Coordinator to keep marketing plans on track, and promoting events in collaboration with campus partners, under the supervision of the Director.
  • Support the Director in building campus partnerships with faculty, staff, and other departments.
  • Help coordinate tutoring-related events and training opportunities.
  • Conduct and participate in regular meetings with staff, supervisors, and graduate assistant(s) to review performance, discuss improvements, and provide feedback.
  • Guide PLAs to help them build the knowledge and skills needed to effectively offer tutoring sessions.
  • Facilitate open communication channels and promote a collaborative, student-centered environment.
