Peer Counselor - Parent Partner (FBH Certified Peer Counselor)
About The Position
Catholic Community Services, Family Behavioral Health is looking for a Parent Partner to join their team. This organization is values-driven and provides family-oriented behavioral health care for children, youth, and families in their own homes and communities. They offer individualized, creative, and flexible services using evidence-based and evidence-informed strategies. The Parent Partner role collaborates with, provides support to, and helps facilitate services for youth and families receiving Family Behavioral Health Services. The emphasis is on achieving incredible outcomes by partnering with families and their natural and community services to achieve long-term safety and stability. This position requires scheduling flexibility and services will be provided in community-based settings and family homes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Age 21 or older.
- Personal (lived) experience as a parent of a child who has been or is receiving community / mental health services within the past ten years.
- Ability to drive to family homes within the community with reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance with an acceptable driving record per CCS policy.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to visually assess safety within family homes and in the community.
- Availability to flex some work hours.
- Demonstrate the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
- Applicant must successfully pass required background clearances prior to an offer of employment.
- Support and uphold the mission, beliefs, and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
Responsibilities
- Use personal experience as a parent of a youth/child who has been a recipient of behavioral health, child welfare, complex medical coordination, or juvenile justice services in building support with families.
- Collaborate, provide support, and help facilitate services for youth and their families receiving Family Behavioral Health Services.
- Help a parent voice their own perspective and assure that other team members understand their perspective and use that perspective in treatment planning.
- Help youth, parents, and families achieve confidence in their abilities to team on a recovery journey and maintain hope for their success after formal behavioral health services have been completed.
- Actively partner with families, their natural and community services, and supports to achieve long-term safety and stability.
