About The Position

Sun River Health is seeking a Pediatrician for its Southampton location, also supporting Shirley and Patchogue locations. The Pediatrician will diagnose and treat patients, collaborate with and supervise nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants, and participate in the planning and development of healthcare services within their specialty. This role involves treating conditions, referring patients when necessary, and participating in after-hours coverage to ensure 24-hour availability of care. The position requires performing job duties in compliance with systems and job-specific standards.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree M.D. or D.O.
  • Valid License to practice medicine in New York State
  • Board Certified
  • 2-4 years of related work experience
  • Physician License in New York State
  • Board Certified
  • CPR/BLS
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures that nurse practitioners are trained to do and are necessary for practicing in health care centers.
  • Competence in delivery of health care to patients (including preventative health education)
  • Ability to collaborate with other members of the Health Center in order to maintain high quality standards and achieve client satisfaction.

  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Takes histories, performs physical examinations, and prescribes treatment and medication for conditions falling in the scope of his /her specialty following evidence-based standard of care.
  • Provides off hours and hospital coverage for Health Center patients where contractually obligated to do so.
  • Designs and participates in quality improvement activities, including Medical Record Peer Review, performance and procedure audits, outcome audits, and focused reviews.
  • Provides supervision for clinical activities of medical providers and medical documentation in his/her department, including but not limited to review of protocols, telephone triage, follow-up procedures.
  • Coordinates tests, referrals, and care of SRH patients outside the Health Center.
  • Sets standards for preventive care and diagnostic screening within his/her specialty; participates in the development of programs to carry out these standards.
  • Maintains legible and appropriate documentation of medical records.
  • Participates and attends provider meetings.
  • Provides safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards.
