About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a Pediatric Surgeon position at the Assistant/Associate/Professor rank within the Department of Surgery at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. This is an opportunity to join a well-established program that is expanding to meet community needs. The practice has over 20 years of service in the Las Vegas Valley, supported by a robust local referral network and covering a large catchment area. The team currently consists of two experienced surgeons and an advanced nurse practitioner. The role involves performing a wide spectrum of pediatric surgical cases, with a significant focus on neonatal and oncology surgeries. Rank will be determined by the SOM Faculty Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (FAPT) Committee based on the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV (SOM) promotion criteria. Tenure consideration may be granted on a case-by-case basis, contingent upon verified previous credentials, FAPT recommendation, and SOM Dean's recommendation.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program.
  • Board-certification in Surgery.
  • Completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery prior to employment.
  • Eligibility for a Nevada medical license.
  • Eligibility for malpractice coverage.
  • Meeting credentialing requirements for applicable hospitals.
  • Ability to obtain admitting privileges at applicable hospitals.
  • Possession and maintenance of a State Board of Pharmacy license.
  • Possession and maintenance of a DEA license.
  • Successful completion of a background check (for finalists).
  • Academic credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
