Pediatric Registered Nurses (Per Diem)
About The Position
NBCH provides high-quality care to meet the needs of its diverse patients, offering a variety of services including Primary & Urgent care, Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Adult Medicine, Behavioral Health, Dental Care and Office-Based Addiction Treatment. As a critical member of the patient care team, Pediatric Registered Nurses (RN) are responsible for providing age-appropriate care to patients in their practice setting. The role requires an empathetic and comprehensive listener who can develop nursing assessments, respond appropriately in emergencies, and evaluate data to make interpretations. The nurse will also be responsible for assisting providers with care plans, administering immunizations and treatments, performing diagnostic tests, ordering and stocking immunizations, documenting in the electronic health record, prioritizing patient phone calls, assisting with procedures, and processing refills. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the orientation of new nurses and providing direction for medical assistants.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse - Current MA License.
- CPR/AED certified.
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in Community Health and/or triage nursing preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Portuguese, Creole or Kiche.
Responsibilities
- Provide age-appropriate care to patients.
- Develop nursing assessments based on data.
- Respond appropriately in emergencies.
- Evaluate data and make interpretations.
- Differentiate nursing situations that require priority.
- Recognize learning needs of patients and coordinate teaching plans.
- Provide individual/group education.
- Assist providers with developing short and long-term goals.
- Involve the patient and family in care plans.
- Administer immunizations/treatments.
- Perform diagnostic tests: EKG’s, Holter Monitors, hearing/vision tests and CLIA waived testing.
- Order and stock immunizations; confirm expiration dates on a consistent basis, and dispose of expired stock.
- Document in the electronic health record.
- Prepare test results.
- Document in patient encounter forms.
- Prioritize patient phone calls and determine the need for immediate medical care.
- Assist with procedures.
- Process refills.
- Contribute to the orientation of new nurses.
- Provide direction for medical assistants.
