About The Position

First Steps Nursing and Therapy is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to provide one-on-one nursing care to an 18-year-old pediatric patient in a home setting in San Antonio, Texas. The patient’s care needs include G-tube care, seizure precautions, BiPAP while sleeping, and assistance related to being non-ambulatory. The patient attends school in NEISD. A female nurse is preferred. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities are available. Nurses must complete required in-office and on-site training and provide accurate, timely documentation in Kantime.

Requirements

Active, unencumbered Texas RN or LVN license.
Current CPR certification.
Reliable transportation.
Ability to perform required physical tasks, including lifting, standing, and transfers.
Willingness to complete required in-office and on-site training.

Nice To Haves

Pediatric or high-acuity experience is preferred but not required.
Female nurse preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct, hands-on nursing care to the assigned patient.
Assess the patient’s condition and document observations.
Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and therapies.
Provide and manage G-tube, ventilator, and tracheostomy care.
Monitor vital signs and perform ongoing nursing assessments.
Communicate changes in the patient’s condition to the nursing supervisor and/or physician.
Educate and support family members and caregivers.
Complete accurate and timely documentation in Kantime.
