About The Position

Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Provider or Registered Nurse (RN) in the examination and treatment of patients to facilitate clinic flow and provide excellent patient care. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and policies; communicates observations to members of the health care team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to facilitate safe, quality patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, consistent with clinical policies, procedures and department standard work.
  • May serve as a chaperone, an impartial observer during a sensitive examination or procedure.
  • Provides input in the development of an individualized plan of care.
  • Identifies health maintenance gaps for patients; notifies patients of existing health maintenance gaps.
  • Documents in the electronic health record; documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate, including, but not limited to: use of assistive devices for patient mobilization and transfers, hand hygiene, and confirmation of patient using at least two patient identifiers.
  • Collects patient reported medication history, allergies, risk screenings along with medical history; reports information to Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
  • Collects and reports vital signs as delineated by a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
  • Collects samples, including, but not limited to: urine and stool.
  • Performs minor testing for provider interpretation, including, but not limited to: Point of care tests, Electrocardiogram, etc
  • Assists with stocking of supplies and cleans patient’s environment/work area/equipment; communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department/unit personnel.
  • Performs and documents the results of required clinical logs and CLIA waived laboratory tests; including but not limited to: performing routine quality control procedures, maintaining temperature logs and eyewash stations, etc.
  • Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior.
  • Commits to continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service.
  • Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
  • Adheres to the organization’s published values, standards, and policies.
